Security Measures for Radioactive Material

Seamless quality control is in place in our company from raw materials of products to production and logistics to ensure the safety of our products. And since the aftermath of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, we have focused our efforts to provide safer and more secure products to customers by implementing the inspection system of radioactive material for raw materials and products.
     The standard of radioactive materials in food will become more stringent starting in April this year. In order to meet the change of the standard, we will do all possible efforts to ensure the safety of products to be able to provide safe and secure products to customers in the same way as ever through introducing new inspection equipment and restructuring quality control system.

About product safety Either a Germanium semiconductor detector or a NaI scintillation type automatic gamma counter is used for product inspection according to the standard value.
About water for use Water (pure water or natural water) used for beverage products receives inspection to ensure safety at each factory for each and every manufacturing day.
About the safety of raw materials An inspection is performed on a whole lot of domestic tea leaves used as raw materials for tea leaf products and tea beverage products. An inspection is also performed on a whole lot of raw materials processed from domestic agriculture products, let alone tea leaves in addition to the inspection by manufacturers.
About radioactive material detection equipment for use
  • ・Germanium semi-conductor detector
    This detector inspects foods with the standard value of 10Bq/kg or less and 50Bq/kg or less including beverage products, drinking tea (extracted liquid), water for use, milk and milk beverage.
  • ・NaI scintillation type automatic gamma counter
    This counter inspects general food, tea leaves (crude tea and manufactured tea) with the standard value of 100Bq/kg or less.
